HomeTutz ("we", "our", "us") is a home tutoring management app designed for coordinators, teachers, students, and parents in Bangalore, India. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
We collect the following information when you register and use the app:
Account Information: Phone number (for authentication via OTP), name, role (student/teacher/parent/coordinator), class/grade information, batch assignments, attendance records, and device tokens for push notifications.
During the tutor registration and verification process, we collect the following identity documents:
10th standard marksheet, 12th standard marksheet, degree certificate, Aadhaar card, and college ID card.
Purpose: These documents are collected solely to verify a tutor's identity and qualifications before they are approved to teach students. This verification protects the safety of students and the integrity of the HomeTutz platform.
Storage: Documents are stored securely in Firebase Cloud Storage with access restricted to the tutor who uploaded them and the HomeTutz coordinator. No other users (students, parents, or other tutors) can access these documents.
Aadhaar data: Providing your Aadhaar card is voluntary. You will not be prevented from using HomeTutz services if you choose not to provide it, though alternative identity verification may be required. Aadhaar data is processed in accordance with the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2016 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
We use your information to: provide tutoring coordination services, send class schedules and notifications, track attendance, facilitate communication between teachers, students, and parents, and improve our services.
Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase (Firestore, Authentication, Cloud Messaging). Data is stored on Google's servers and protected by Google's security infrastructure.
We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties. Your information is only visible to authorized users within the HomeTutz system (coordinators, assigned teachers, and relevant parents/students).
We use Firebase Cloud Messaging to send push notifications about class schedules, attendance, and important updates. You can disable notifications in your device settings at any time.
HomeTutz is used by students who may be under 18. Student accounts are created and managed by coordinators with parental awareness. We do not knowingly collect unnecessary personal information from children.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Identity documents submitted by tutors are retained until the tutor has concluded their role with HomeTutz, after which documents are deleted within 30 days. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Contact us to exercise these rights.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
